Why This Blog?

December 9th, 2009

The Seminar Planning Committee reported to the Board of Directors that it is becoming very difficult to obtain laboratory hosts for the bi-annual seminar.  They have proposed changing the seminar schedule to an annual basis.  It is believed that by going to a single seminar per year it will be easier to get vendors, there will be less conflict with other professional seminars, there will be higher attendance at the CAC’s only annual seminar and by meeting only once a year laboratories will need to host a meeting less often.  Unfortunately, only one seminar per year will result in less opportunity for a local meeting, fewer meetings for presentation of current research, fewer formal training opportunities, and potentially less interaction between the north and south regions.  One way to address the issue of fewer training opportunities would be greater use of the study groups and setting up workshops instead of a seminar.

The BOD would like to get the opinions of the membership before formally addressing this issue. Therefore this blog was set up to allow the CAC membership an easy process to express your views.
